The Peer Review focuses on your peers’ strategy in your area of interest thus helping you to benchmark yourself in this space. A Peer Review will be of great value to you if you are looking to:

  • Define or confirm your strategy in a specific area through quality market intelligence
  • Obtain benchmarking data that will allow you to gain internal buy-in or help to put together a strong business case
  • Benchmark your current performance in a specific area against the marketplace
  • Determine best practice in an area that you have recently taken over and may not be your current specific area of expertise

Peer Review standard offering

Lepus will work with a representative from your bank to develop a bespoke questionnaire tailored specifically to the needs of your organisation. Lepus will work with you on defining the scope of the research you would like to undertake and the parameters that need to be addressed within the peer review. Once the questionnaire is complete, Lepus will contact a selection of our personal contacts within Tier 1 and Tier 2 investment banks as agreed by the client and will start arranging interviews. Lepus will then interview one person from a minimum of 5 banks within your peer group of organisations. A greater number of interviews (a minimum of 7 or a minimum of 10) is available at additional cost.

The interviews will be based on the standard bespoke questionnaire but will be interactive in nature in order to achieve the desired level of detail. Consideration will be given to the issues discussed at the interviews with your staff to put the answers from the peer review interviews into the context of your bank’s requirements.

Lepus will collate the information collected in a coherent and comprehensive report. The information will be laid out as textual descriptions enriched with graphical representations such as graphs, diagrams and tables. Although the participants will be kept anonymous throughout the report, the individual answers will be qualified by the size and geographical origin of the bank that provided this answer. This is necessary to put answers in the right context and avoid skewing data.  The final report will be produced once all the interview information has been collected and analysed. The report will then be sent to the client for review. On rare occasions when further clarifications on the report are required, we can set up a follow up meeting and go over any outstanding questions with yourselves in person.

Additional options

Lepus can offer additional levels of peer review service depending on your needs as per below:

Interviews to develop the questionnaire

Lepus will discuss further with up to 10 of your staff the objectives you are trying to achieve with the interviews. It is important that we know not only the objectives but the background of why you want to know this information so that we go into the right depth. The aim of this exercise will be to identify the areas of key interest to you and to formulate a questionnaire that adequately reflects these. The questionnaire will be specifically tailored to allow you to understand how your peer banks have responded to similar challenges and issues.  Once the questionnaire is complete, we will submit it back to you for approval.

Ranking matrix

Lepus will work with you to compile a Ranking Matrix listing some of the key parameters that would qualify the current state of the researched area in slightly more quantitative terms.

The peer banks will be asked to complete a Ranking Matrix stating how well or poorly they score in each of the criterion listed in the Ranking Matrix. This information will be used to assess how the peer organisations score generally. An example of how the matrix may look like is illustrated below (you may choose to change the format of the Ranking Matrix to suit your specific requirements):

Benchmarking

Lepus will interview 1 or 2 contacts within your bank using the same bespoke questionnaire as for the peer banks. This will allow Lepus to compare your strategy against those of your peers and identify any existing gaps and areas to improve in.

If your bank has chosen to go for the Ranking Matrix option, you will also be asked to fill it in stating how well or poorly you score in each of the criterion listed in the Ranking Matrix. The aggregated peer banks’ Ranking Matrix will then be compared against the ranking Matrix submitted by your bank to identify your positioning in the market.

Recommendations

On the basis of our primary research, and having assimilated both qualitative and quantitative benchmarking information (if you have chosen to go for Benchmarking and/or Ranking Matrix options), Lepus will formulate recommendations specific to the area of research.
